Denon AVR-2312 in the test

There is actually only one thing to improve on the handling of the current Denon generation: the beige label on the anthracite black front panel is barely visible in the dim light because home cinemas are usually not operated with floodlight.

Denon AVR-2312 review: features

Many buttons are not available on the device anyway, and Denon's remote control is one of the best of its kind. You'll also find pretty, fast, and helpful colored 3D on-screen menus.

Denon AVR-2312 test: Crisp in all channels

The iPod integration via USB cable is perfect - if you prefer to play your songs wirelessly over the system via AirPlay, you do not have to pay an extra charge. Via the Ethernet interface, Internet radio can be played back, or the digital music archive can be streamed to the living room from a DLNA-compliant server - in the formats MP3, WMA, AAC, FLAC, FLAC HD and WAV

Denon AVR-2312 review: Conclusion

For video fans, the AVR-2312 provides the high-quality 12-bit video processor Analog Devices ADV8002-4 with motion-optimized de-interlacing and so-called candence detection. It provides optimal playback of movies recorded in the original at 24 frames per second.

In the hearing test the AV control center convinced in stereo and in surround mode. The AVR-2312 preserves the high musicality of its predecessors. Voices sounded more expressive about the Japanese than most competitors, the bass sounded crisp and taut - no matter whether two or five speakers were driven.

This gave Drum something special. Even in stereo the performers took a step towards the listener when the Denon was the turn. He created an authentic aura. Live recordings, such as the Alicia Keys' MTV Unplugged album, captured the audience.

With multi-channel recordings of Peter Cincotti's DVD Live in New York, the illusion was almost perfect. The AVR-2312 introduced the musicians tangibly into the room. The sharp-tipped bass could feel right on the body, even if it was not quite as contoured as over the 130 € more expensive receiver from Yamaha worked. In Denon, the Denon was particularly striking with its distinctive, clear voice reproduction.

The AVR-2312 combines harmonious sound with perfect functionality for those who do not mind the thin cover plate and plenty of plastic
