Lenovo ThinkPad Helix 2 in the test

The Lenovo ThinkPad Helix 2 is like the Toshiba Portégé Z20t-B-11P to business users. ThinkPad-typical is the processing quality at a very high level. This starts with the matt-finished housing from a robust aluminum-plastic connection and does not stop at the very hard-hitting hinges of the Ultrabook Pro keyboard. The illuminated and splash-proof keyboard, the glass touchpad and the trackpoint work perfectly. The ThinkPad Helix 2 is also equipped with an active digitizer (Wacom). It can be used to write very precisely on the 11.6-inch touch-screen (full-HD) protected with gorilla glass.

Perfect business equipment

Press the side lock button, disconnect the tablet from the keyboard dock. At interfaces you have a headphone jack, a mini HDMI output, a USB 3.0 port, SIM and microSD card slots. Except for the video output are all with dampers protected against dirt and splash water. In terms of technology, the ThinkPad Helix 2 is equipped with everything the business user needs: WLAN-ac, LTE, Bluetooth, NFC. Intel's vPro platform and a fingerprint reader provide better manageability and security.

Lenovo ThinkPad Helix 2: Benchmark

For video communication, a 2 megapixel camera and a microphone array are available at the front, a 5 megapixel camera with autofocus at the rear. The dock provides an additional USB 3.0 port and a DisplayPort output. The performance delivers an Intel Core M-5Y71, 8 GB of RAM and an mSATA SSD with 256 GB of storage space. The benchmark results are clearly behind those of the Microsoft Surface Pro 4. With 4.497 points in the PCMark 7, 3.428 points in the 3DMark Cloud Gate and 1.96 points in the Cinebench R11.5, the Lenovo ThinkPad Helix 2 delivers a satisfying office performance.

Conclusion

Lesetipp: Upgrade notebook with SSD and RAM

The SSD's good read rate (449.3 MB / s) ensures a high working speed. A lot of ground makes the 1.65 kilogram heavy detachable good at the more important runtime measurement. In our test, the 35-Wh battery in the tablet and the 26-Wh battery in the keyboard dock allow a runtime of 6:07 hours - the second highest run-time value in this test.
