The danger exists for a long time, a current fraud case makes the possible damage extent clear: the speech is of the so-called Telefon-Scam. In a recent case, a 52-year-old man from Neustadt was deceived by 499 euros, the criminals gave themselves as Microsoft employees.
The police department Neustadt / Weinstraße reported that the victim on 5 April 2017 a telephone call with a supposed Microsoft employee led. Supposedly, the computer of the 52-year-old man was infected with viruses. For a help and problem solution on the telephone the allegedly injured 200 euro by the Western Union. A subsequent complaint by the fraudster, after which the money had not been received, led to a further transfer of 299 euro.
Only when a second complaint, which once again contained a money claim, the victim became stupid and reported. The investigations are running, new reports on results are not yet available. The outcome of the story remains to be seen.
