The only thing that diminishes the realistic simulation feeling is the expandable damage model. Although collisions are shown visually very neatly, sheet metal damage appears to have only minimal impact on the driving behavior. You have to go to the limit of the total damage to actually feel mechanical parts or the engine.


Codemasters has also done a lot of work on graphics. The stretch mark is wonderfully varied - whether the icy mountains of Monaco, the dense forests in Scandinavia or the rocky Greece: the detail rich with swirled dust particles, changes in the weather or the daytime are simply great Code>


In addition, the sound can convince. Loud motors, squealing brakes, the slewing of the VW Polo drifting around the hairpin curve - everything is realistically portrayed and completes the feeling of being a real rally racer.


Welcome back in the world of racing simulations, Codemasters! With DiRT Rally, the developer delivers a real-world racing racing game, which can collect a lot of positive points with a tremendously successful driving physics and a pictorial representation.


Deductions in the B-note are available for the improved damage model. Also, one way to make the game more accessible to the user would have been desirable. However, DiRT Rally succeeds in returning to the racing roots and should be a very good simulation in the game library of any hobby racing car.
