Eutelsat: production and transmission of 4K film

The artistic and cultural heritage of the cities of Rome, Naples and Venice should be packed in the best possible image quality. This is how the documentary film “Roma, Napoli, Venezia … in un crescendo rossiniano”, produced by the Italian public TV broadcaster Rai Strategie Tecnologiche and satellite network operator Eutelsat, was produced in 4K image points

The declared goal of the station and Eutelsat is to check recording and production techniques for the 4K standard. Now the Italian feature film was shown for the first time before industrial and media representatives. But it should not be the case: To check the technology on the last pixel, Eutelsat transmits the film at the end of the month with the Eutelsat satellite 10 A.

For cineasts, however, the test run is not receivable. On the one hand, there is a lack of corresponding TV receivers. On the other hand, the transmission should enable the satellite operator as well as the TV station to detect possible sources of error. The film will be broadcast in the new UHD-designed data compression format HEVC. The data rate has not been given by Eutelsat.
