A secure Windows computer is, of course, also a secure browser. Microsoft Edge is the default installed browser in Windows 10, but it has not been able to register large market shares. Our recommendation as an application is Google Chrome. Also widely used, at least relatively, are Mozilla Firefox and Opera.
Tip 6: Alternate Tor Browser
The free Tor browser bundle allows users to surf the Internet safely and anonymously, regardless of their own browser. Tor Browser is based on Mozilla Firefox. The browser is already equipped with add-ons as standard, which ensure web traffic, especially in unsafe networks, such as WLANs from hotels or hotspots. These add-ons can, of course, also be installed in their own browser via the respective store.
Tip 7: Install browser add-ons
These are mainly NoScript, HTTPS-Everywhere, Torbutton and TorLauncher. These add-ons are automatically activated by the Tor browser after unpacking. You do not have to adjust any settings, just start the browser. After unpacking the package, start the browser environment using the Start Tor Browser.exe shortcut. After this, an assistant starts to help with the setup.
Tip 8: Safe surfing with VPN
The browser add-ons that are installed in Tor Browser should also be installed in your traditional browser. In Google Chrome, go to the settings menu with the three dashes, then choose Other Tools / Extensions. Then click the Download More Extensions link.

For Chrome you should install the extensions No-Script Suite Lite as well as HTTPS-Everywhere. This makes the operation of the browser much safer. An advertising block should also be installed. This also prevents the execution of commercial scripts.
With the free Hotspot Shield Free VPN Proxy extension, you install an add-on in Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox, which allows you to surf the Internet anonymously. If you have enabled the add-on, it creates an encrypted connection and redirects the web requests through this secure connection.
