AVM’s Extender Kit does not have a loop-through socket for both the PLC adapter and the extender. Thus the kit is only suitable for households with acute lack of free wall sockets. And as already indicated, AVM saves on the Extender a dualband access point. The 5 GHz band is especially good in the Powerline extender, since the WLAN connection between extender and client (s) is mostly used within a room and the interference from neighboring WLANs is not as dramatic as in the 2.4 -GHz band.
Also, the combined PLC-WLAN transmission rate of a connected WLAN client would then not be limited to a maximum of 95 MBit / s. The 1240E extender kit consumes the least amount of power (3.5 watt without and 4 watt with WLAN) in the test field, harmonizes perfectly with Fritzbox home networks and allows the uncomplicated connection of WLAN clients via WPS button. Alternatively, the Wi-Fi connection data of a Fritzbox router (cloning) can be transferred via a type of WiFi-Move function. Interesting: The extender can also be configured as a WLAN or LAN bridge.
