Windows 10 Clean Install with UEFI: Clean new installation from the USB stick

If you want to perform a clean install of Windows 10 via a USB stick on a new PC with a UEFI interface instead of BIOS, problems can occur. With the correct settings, you can avoid this and Windows is installed properly. In this article, we’ll show you what settings you need to make to reinstall Windows 10 cleanly.

Windows 10 Clean Install: UEFI vs. Windows BIOS

Move the PC up and start the UEFI interface by pressing the "Del" key or "F2" depending on the manufacturer. The following UEFI settings are important:

Then you can exit the UEFI interface after saving and shut down the PC. Now insert the prepared USB stick for a Windows 10 Clean Install and turn on the computer. Open the UEFI interface again and select the USB stick in Boot Manager - but the entry must be preceded by a "[UEFI]" prefix - do not select the entry for the USB stick without the label. Alternatively, move the USB stick to the first position in the boot order with "[UEFI]" prefix, save and restart the computer.

Then run the Windows 10 installation and the operating system will go up as desired.
