At the consumer center in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, the complaints about failures due to the VoIP conversion (Voice-over-IP) at Deutsche Telekom are increasing. According to the information given by the association, Internet and thus telephone functions were partly for several weeks.
All-IP conversion made easy
In the course of this, the Consumer Center complains in the name of the affected parties of a bad to nonexistent support as well as an inadequate information policy. In addition, it is an unacceptable practice to automatically link VoIP switching to new telecom contracts with a 24-month term.
We reported on corresponding plans in September 2017. Telekom had threatened customers who would not switch to one of the new VoIP tariffs with a notice. Telekom plans to convert the entire network to IP technology by the end of 2018 and to take leave of the old and hard-to-maintain copper lines.

In order to get a more comprehensive picture of the problems of the VoIP switchover, the consumer center Mecklenburg-Vorpommern starts a call. Complaints regarding the VoIP switchover - not only at the Telekom - can be sent by e-mail (info@nvzmv.de) from 1 June to 10 July, or by post (consumer center Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, keyword IP conversion, Strandstraße 98, 18055 Rostock). The results should be presented to the policy as well as the Internet providers together with recommendations for action.

Telecom and other providers want to move away by the end of 2018 away from the conventional Anschlussstechnik with two lines (Internet and telephone) and everything on the data network. When and where officially converted, is not known according to the consumer center. The fact is that many consumers have no knowledge of the planned measures. According to the association, such a changeover should take place "not [simply] by the way."
