Samsung HomeSync in test

Photos from the smartphone, videos from the PC, music in the MP3 player – media data are often scattered around and rarely where you need them. In the world of up-to-date Android smartphones and tablets, the small Samsung HomeSync box is supposed to get a mess.

The Android box with built-in 1 TB hard disk is connected to the Flat TV via HDMI cable and controlled via the corresponding Homesync app on an Android smartphone in the same network. It also connects to the user's Samsung account with all compatible devices: such as other Android smartphones or tablets, PCs, or network-capable cameras. When all components are connected, photos, videos, and music can be sent to the home server manually or automatically. In turn, you can also access all of the content stored on HomeSync from the smartphone - at home and on the road via the Internet. Multiple users can use the user's own account.

HomeSync itself runs with the Android operating system 4.2.2, the menu reminds the look of the Samsung Smart TVs: Three areas show their own media contents, films from the Samsung Video Store as well as apps installed on the device. For control, either a mouse cursor or a cursor cross on the connected smartphone, alternatively, the screen space of the HomeSync box can be mirrored on the smartphone and commanded there by fingertip. HomeSync requires a fairly intensive training. The variety of functions and control via smartphone are not always intuitive. The box is very helpful in organizing your own and purchased media content on Android.
