Facebook is to pay Texans 123 million US dollars

An American from Houston, Texas sued Facebook and her ex-boyfriend. The man is supposed to have published fake naked and porn photos of her in a fake profile. The Texan woman is now claiming damages of $ 123 million.

The woman discovered the fake profile in December 2013 and then informed the police, which in turn passed the information to Facebook. However, the social network apparently did not delete the profile until February 2017. According to the applicant, Facebook has, among other things, failed to fulfill its obligations in the field of data protection.

The ex-boyfriend had published fake naked pictures in the fake account. In the photomontage he mounted the head of the woman on naked female body, some pictures should even show pornographic poses. The woman was hurt in her privacy as she was not as free as she was in the photos.

The sum in the lawsuit is the multiplication of 10 US cent times the currently presumed 1.23 billion members of Facebook. Since the social network is excluded from the responsibility for the deeds of the individual because of the "Communication Decency Act", the complaint of experts is little success.
