TVs are getting thinner and with them the sound. This experience has already made many TV buyers. Therefore, space-saving solutions are required, which can be positioned directly on the TV and polish the TV sound. Soundbars are therefore more popular than ever, since they combine loudspeakers and amplifier units in one box.
Bose Solo: Installation & Operation
However, buyers often have two limitations with the sound bars: for subwoofers, subwoofers are often supplied, which require extra space. Furthermore, in many cases, the TVs do not fit the soundbar. The soundbars are often thin and flat, so that the owner can attach them to the wall under the TV. They are often not placed in front of the TV because they usually obscure the infrared eye for the remote control or even the screen.
Bose Solo: Sound
These problems are solved by Bose's new Solo TV Sound System: All loudspeaker and amplifier units are located under one cover. In addition, the sound box has a floor area of 53 cm x 31 cm and was designed to place on it TVs with a screen diagonal of 32 inches. Also for many TVs with up to 42 inches the area is sufficient if the base has a rectangular base. Otherwise you have to place the Bose Solo in the TV rack one floor lower.
Conclusion
Five soundbars in the test
Operation and installation are as simple as Bose. The owner connects the headphone output or one of the digital sound sockets of the TV with the Bose Solo, ensuring that the appropriate sound output on the TV is activated, and is already back.
The user does not have to decide if he wants to limit the dynamics so as not to disturb the neighbors or the sleeping children in loud film scenes, or to increase the intelligibility of the sound at low volumes or how the sound adjustment should fail. The digital signal processing in the solo does everything automatically, always the optimal television sound in the focus.
If the sound is properly prepared by the processor, the audio signal goes through the amplifier to the four broadband loudspeakers, including three bassflex tubes: two drivers are for the left channel and two are for the right channel. The two outer chassis radiate sideways for a wider sound field.
And really: the soundscapes of films stand out far beyond the solo. A clear added value against TVs also in dialogues: Voices are much better understood and have more volume. A force is the bass, which reaches 67 hertz and sets explosions adequately into scene. Even concert recordings can be enjoyed if you do not turn the soundbar to the limit.
Sound solutions in the test
This is usually not necessary: the Bose system is strong enough for most living rooms. Of course, the broadband loudspeakers neither achieve the last precision in the bass nor the finest high-frequency resolution.
The volume can be adjusted via the supplied transmitter. You can do without him if you have a universal remote control. Owners of newer TVs should therefore miss an HDMI output with audio back channel. If it were available, the volume of the solo could be controlled via the TV control stick.
So it can be so easy to improve the TV sound. Bravo Bose, we want more such practical tuning solutions!
