The black bird, in whose plastic body the British gadget manufacturer Gear4 has implanted its latest iPod / iPhone / iPad docking station, comes from the cult video game “Angry Birds”. The aim of the game from Rovio is to bring down monkeys and pigs through the shooting of colorful and angry birds through a sling building. It has been downloaded hundreds of millions of times on smartphones and tablets, and is now a generational success.
But "angry", that is, angered or angered, must be no one to bring the Bulldog home. In the face of the little audiophile equipment, the small songbird surprises with an acceptable bass and a considerable amount of space. Even when the volume is high, there are no unpleasant noises.
The docking station is as original as it is practical: it charges the attached Apple device automatically. The supplied mini remote control controls the most important basic functions of music playback, but only in iPod mode. If music is imported via other apps, however, the volume control works via the small encoder. On the back of the bird, they control the volume and the bass directly. Via the 3.5 mm input on the back, other input devices can also be connected to the loudspeaker. Conclusion: A real fan article with added value, which is worth 90 euros and certainly not only in children's rooms as an eye-catcher. A pity actually only that the sound transmission does not work wirelessly. Otherwise, the Angry Bird could still transmit the unmistakable sound of the game while you are on the iPad at the next level.
Gear4 also offers its "Angry Bird" products in the variants "Red Bird" and "Helmet Pig". The red bird, however, is not a docking station, but can be connected via cable to MP3 players, but it is also 20 euros less expensive.
