Sounddeck Pioneer SBX-B70D review

The new Sounddeck SBX B70D from Pioneer impresses with its simple design.

Conclusion

The new SBX-B70D Sounddeck from Pioneer meets known technology with new technologies. For optically, the deck reminds of Pioneer's autoradios. Inside the Sounddeck, on the other hand, is the latest technology: Bluetooth, AirPlay, DLNA and music services such as Spotify are among other things as sources of reference.

Thanks to the LAN interface, the deck can also be connected to the home network in just a few steps, as a result of which digital radio via DAB / DAB + is available in the living room. On the back of the sound deck are also two digital connectors (coaxial and optical) as well as an analog audio input. Unfortunately, Pioneer has not given the SBX-B70D HDMI interfaces.

The manufacturer was more generous with the operating concept. To navigate easily through the menus, the display shows the user the setting options. The sweeping remote control offers a lot of room to improve the sound of the sound deck. Unfortunately, with the large number of buttons, the remote control is also lost.

For example, the "Bass" and "Treble" menu items are located under the "Tools" button. To get there, use the arrow keys to navigate. As default settings, Pioneer offers the modes "Standard, Auto Surround, Night and Dialogue."

The harmonious and, above all, deep bass ensures a balanced sound. Here the sound deck succeeds in getting the maximum in draft despite compact design.

The dynamics of the deck are very beautifully worked out - the deck shines both in the heights as well as in the middle area. The voices of the film actor are well understood and pleasantly harmonious. The only drop of vermouth: the space that the deck conjures is relatively small. The sound remains too much on the SBX-B70D and hardly goes into the depth.

For around 500 Euros Pioneer brings a sound sounddeck on the market, which will particularly delight music fans. The possibilities to send music to the deck or to get via DLNA and digital radio are great. Unfortunately, HDMI is not on board.
