Of course, the Gamefly developers know this too and therefore have mainly games in the package, which manage with this latency time. There are lots of action adventures like "Batman Arkham City", "Tomb Raider" or "Deadfall" in the program, which does not count to one Hunderstelsekunde. In addition, the multiplayer mode has been deactivated in multiplayable games - still as the press release from Samsung indicates.
For the test with a Philips 55PUS7101 the editors docked the television over a Fritz! Box 7390 to a 100 megabit connection of the Deutsche Telekom. On the TV itself, the Logitech F-310 game controller was used. At the beginning of each game session, the Gamefly app first tests the Internet connection. A minimum data rate of eight megabits per second is required for 720p streaming. In the first test person, "D4 Dark Dreams Do not Die" - a puzzle game with comic-like sequences - it actually looked as if a Playstation 4 or Xbox One had been docked on the TV. The loading times of the game content as well as the picture quality can easily keep up with the console games. In the case of much more dynamic games such as "Operation Flashpoint Dragon Rising", "Red Faction Armageddon" or "Fear 2", artefacts (blocks) crept in from time to time. Even with the fast scrolling in the Gamefly start menu, image errors were detected. Another weakness: Many story-mode games are only available in English. There are American subtitles, too.
However, the existing latency of racing games requires a little change. In the rally simulation "Grid2" of Codemasters one lands at the beginning but often in the street trench, if one is accustomed to the classical console control. The car responds to commands from the controller just a bit later - just like "F1 Formula1 2017" or "Moto GP 15."
In terms of the salvation, it is said that the delay and the resulting image errors depend on both the hardware used and the Internet provider and its connection to the Gamefly server.
If you are reluctant to have many devices on the TV, have a fast Internet connection, and even in the games sector, the change, for example, Gamefly streaming is an interesting flat rate model. Power gamers with quality requirements will probably choose the console variant. But try it does not cost anything, and even the subscription can be canceled monthly.
