TV test 2017: Television under 50 inches in comparison

The 50-inch TVs in this test nowadays are already among the more compact representatives of their kind. For real home cinema enthusiasts the TV stands as an image projector at a central point in the living room and falls accordingly large. However, there are also contemporaries who choose their TV for the floor space – often a wall unit.

A question of class

Taking into account the absolutely necessary distances for the heat removal to the side and upwards, TVs can be pressed roughly into the furniture grid. For example, a 32-inch model with an 80-centimeter image diagonal fit into an 80-centimeter wide barrier element such as an Ikea Billy. Equivalent to this, 42-inch hands come with a metric cabinet. For the five test candidates from the 48er / 49er class, the media wall must have a gap of 120 cm. For even bigger candidates, it's difficult: you can stand on a rack or hang directly on the wall.

If the size of the TV to be selected is fixed, the question arises of the class, and thus according to the own requirements, as well as the budget planned for it. Samsung, for example, divides its devices into the series four to nine, from the simple beginner TV to the high end model. Similarly, the other manufacturers also divide their TV into categories. The differences between the individual device generations are in the detail and are not always at first sight to be noticed. Notes indicate the type and number of jacks, image repetition frequency, panel resolution, smart TV features as well as the top features. These include, for example, 3D technology, curved displays or a built-in camera.

Video is devoted to this comparison test of medium class under 50 inch image diagonal. Since not all manufacturers were able to deliver exactly the same image size, the testers grouped the devices into a group test so that even smaller candidates could be included.
