Harman / Kardon has a formidable soundbar in high-gloss black plus a subwoofer. The extrabass works with a 25-centimeter driver, is adjustable in phase, level and transition frequency and receives the sound data wirelessly.
The sound bar accepts the sound of two digital and one analogue sources. A surround processor distributes the sound to two 75-millimeter woofers and one tweeter per side. Each channel has a 25-watt power amplifier for the drive, while the bass is 100 watts.
For wall mounting or table placement, the SB16 also provides two tonal adjustments to optimize the fundamental and bass sector. Sound modes include surround for movies and stereo for music. A remote control is not in the box, instead the soundbar is capable of learning and can be controlled via the TV remote control.
The 2.1-Kombi left a very lively, dynamic impression in the hearing test. At the same time, there was hardly any depth, and certainly not a level. Tip: In surround mode, stereo sound can sound better tonal and spatial.
