8 graphics cards in comparison

Anyone who wants to start 3D games of a more recent date can not miss a discrete, higher-quality graphics card. Even the latest onboard graphics solutions in the CPUs of AMD or Intel do not go beyond the level of an entry-level graphics card. For a liquid representation, a game with at least 25 fps must be displayed, otherwise there will be jerks: In graphically demanding games, you can not provide integrated GPUs or entry-level graphics cards.

The test field

Not everyone can or will invest a lot of money in a new graphics card. For this reason, we have stretched the test field this time with models from around 100 to 250 euros. The low-priced graphics cards in the test are aimed at multimedia users and casual gamers who are looking for a good and mostly fluid presentation.

Conclusion

The rest of the cards are aimed at users who like to play the latest games and want to enjoy them in very good picture quality on their full HD display. An important factor, whether a program runs smoothly or not, is the adjusted graphics quality. A high level of detail, together with optical enhancements such as edge smoothing, require more power to the graphics card. The set resolution is also a crucial point.

The two most expensive graphics cards in the test, the Zotac GeForce GTX 660 and the HD 7850 OC 2GB from Sapphire, are expected to be ahead. They are highly recommended to any game fan who wants to upgrade his system with a modern graphics card. The Sapphire HD 7700 Vapor-X, the MSI R7770-2PMD1GD5 / OC and the HIS 7770 iCooler 1GB deliver a convincing performance that is sufficient for most users in the competitive price segment below 150 Euros. However, one should be aware that there may not be enough power reserves for future games with increased requirements. The current Asus GT640-2GD3 is currently fighting for the latest DX11 titles. Also the low price does not make up for this.
