Extended battery life

In one point the X-Pro2 does not live up to our demands on a top camera: the battery is too tightly dimensioned. According to Fujifilm, its running time according to Cipa standard is just 250 images with electronic and 350 images with an optical viewfinder. In view of this, it is generally worth investing in a second book (about 45 euros).

How to

Anyone who can not afford to do this can also turn to the other available screw for an extended recharge time, the energy consumption. It is, of course, first and foremost meaningful usage behavior, for example the economical use of the electronic viewfinder. But also with targeted settings, something can be achieved: The X-Pro2 provides the "Power Management" in the "Setup menu". Here are two entries: "Auto-off" and a little "power management".

In the basic configuration, a shut-down time of two minutes is provided under "Auto-off", and "5 Min" and "Off" are also available - there is nothing to be gained at this point. However, in the "Power Management", if you switch from the default "standard" to "ECO". However, the display quality of the electronic live-view preview, then also falls according to Fujifilm the autofokusgeschwindigkeit. The latter was not negatively affected by the Praxistest, and the hybrid autofocus worked pleasantly fast even in the ECO mode. The X-Pro2 promises the maximum of AF-pace and live-view image quality with the power management setting "H-performance" (high-performance).

By the way: The typical battery bar symbol visible in the preview shows the current battery level very inaccurately. More important is the percentage in the upper right corner of the info screen (Disp / Back key).

It's always a good idea to invest a little more time at the beginning in order to get a better idea of the operating concept of your camera, but the X-Pro2 is probably worth it. Many work steps, which at first appear somewhat complicated, go with it also much faster and easier from the hand - if you only know how.

A good example of this is the formatting of the memory card: In the menu, the function hides on a lower level, more precisely under "Setup" and there again under "User setting". The shorter path is only a few purely intuitive to open up: hold down the delete key for approx. 3 seconds, then press the pointing finger the rear universal wheel, then the X-Pro2 jumps directly to the formatting dialog And the delete key is still pressed when the dial wheel comes on. Otherwise, the trick unfortunately does not work, something tricky. But whoever has the turn, will appreciate direct access to the formatting command. Caution: If the memory card is not inserted, the X-Pro2 will indicate this when the power is turned on. After that, she works as usual and without warning, the pictures appear even after the trigger on the monitor, as if everything had worked wonderfully. The error occurs only in the playback mode. There is no way to prevent it from being triggered without a memory card.
