NEXT Berlin 2017: Conference of the digital economy

Big Data, Data Security and Industry 4.0 – these were some of the topics of the conference of the digital economy NEXT Berlin 2017. Under the motto “The New Normal” representatives from business, media and politics met on two days on keynotes, lectures and panel discussions.

The event was opened by State Secretary Brigitte Zypries, who announced in this context, the promotion of start-up companies want to strengthen. For this, for example, tax reductions are conceivable. Other speakers include the science fiction author Cory Doctorow, the entrepreneur and Skype investor Morten Lund and the publicist Anke Domscheit-Berg.

Industry 4.0 takes drive

The main theme of NEXT14 goes back to the book "The New Normal" by Peter Hinssen. The entrepreneur describes the fact that digital technologies have become a normality and now an unpredictable future is ahead for companies to demand new mobile strategies.

An important part of the program was the award of the best European start-up. This year, the award went to the founders of Cinepass, an overarching digital sales platform for kinotickets developed in Berlin.

Much attention was also paid to the speech of the American Minister of the Interior, Thomas de Maiziere. "The Internet is a public space, it needs rules, orientation and limits of use," said de Maiziere in his keynote.

With around 1,500 partly high-profile participants, the NEXT 2017 Berlin made clear the importance of the digital economy in the United States and Europe. Many of the NEXT14's informative lectures are available on the official website as a video clip.
