Before you remove the old system irretrievably, you should take another precaution. Although Microsoft programs can be uninstalled, they are not disabled. If Windows licenses are no longer used on a computer, you may legally use the license on another machine.

Programs that do not originate from Microsoft and which you had to activate at the manufacturer, will better uninstall them before formatting the hard drive.
