Kodi 14 Download for RPi2: XBMC for Raspberry Pi 2

After the recent release of the Raspberry Pi 2, version 14 of the Mediacenter software Kodi is now available as a download. The Kodi update (Codename Helix) is the successor to XBMC.

More about Kodi (XBMC)

Key new features of Kodi 14 include support for the h.265 format, enhanced DLNA / UPnP and airplay support. If you are updating from an older version of XBMC you should make a backup of the media library and the settings because a downgrade is no longer provided.

Download tip: Kodi (formerly XBMC) for Windows

The installation on a Raspberry Pi 2 is possible thanks to Linux distributions, which already contain the update. So, OpenELEC, one of the most popular variants for the Raspberry Pi, has already included Kodi 14 in a recent update. In addition to the Raspberry Pi 2, Windows, Mac OS, iOS and Android also receive the update to Kodi 14.

Kodi was formerly known as Xbox Media Player. After renaming to XBMC in 2008, the new name, Kodi, was designed to solve the connection to the Xbox console and make it clear that the software is far more than a mere media center.
