With gaming PCs, it is still the case that the performance counts. Therefore, the Intel Core i5-4670K works in the 1000-euro gaming computer of XMX also with strongly increased clock frequency. The QuadCore CPU is actually designed for 3.4 GHz, only the Turbo boost can speed the frequency to 3.8 GHz. In the XMX-PC, the clock multiplier set at 44 for the factory is set to 44.
This type of overclocking is only possible with the K-processors with "open" multiplier. However, we have driven our tests at 4.2 GHz because the CPU runs at 4.4 GHz despite the water cooling seems to be at the limit. Games would still be possible, the Cinebench rendering bench, which drives all cores to 100 percent, sent the PC in the test lab several times into a Bluescreen. But also with 4.2 GHz, the processor is still fast-paced for a quad-core CPU without hyperthreading.
In the Cinebench rendering benchmark we measure a good 7.05 points. An MSI N760 TF 2GD5 / OC with GeForce GTX-760 GPU provides good Framerats also in demanding 3D-Games. The card is one of the top mid-range and is fast enough for many games for a smooth gameplay with full HD and high details. We measure 5477 points in the 3DMark FireStrike and we measure 17696 counters in the Cloud Gate run.
With 4423 points in the PCMark 7, the system performance of the 8Mbyte of RAM equipped XMX is good. Mass storage does not serve SSD, for an HDD is the WDC Caviar Blue with 148 MByte / s while reading extremely fast. An optical drive is a DVD burner, Windows 8.1 is pre-installed.
