Part 6: Disk Tools: Cloned Clusters

Without a bootdiskette it is not with HDCopy Home. The program offers only one window under Windows that allows you to boot DOS from the floppy disk. The DOS interface does not meet Windows standards, but the usage is quickly learned. If you want to access the network with HDCopy, you must create your own hand and configure a bootdisk. If this is done, HDCopy accesses network drives without grumbling.

One problem is the DOS tool: the speed. The program was the slowest test in all disciplines. Also, the compression did not work very effectively. The competition produced smaller files. Writing to CD is not possible. For this, HDCopy can read with a corresponding DOS driver from CD. The program can not only save individual partitions, but also entire hard disks. HDCopy does not have a disk-to-disk copy function. HDCopy does not have a partition manager.

However, it can delete all partitions on a disk with a command and mark a specific partition as active. HDCopy makes backup and restore of Windows partitions neat and easy to use due to the small range of functions - at least for users with DOS experience. If you want more functionality, you have to go to the Pro version or to one of the competitors in the test field
