Samsung SSD 840 & 840 Evo: firmware bug make SSDs slow

The Samsung SSD 840 and 840 Evo series make problems. An error in the firmware causes the reading speed for data to break down and the SSD to slow down. Samsung has already recognized the problem and announced a bug fix against the IT portal anandtech.com. When it is ready to download, it is not yet known.

Affected by the bug is reportedly only data blocks that contain information already older than about a month. Newly written data, however, is read out with the usual performance.
