To secure the WhatsApp contacts, Android is a convenient way to do it. Here you install the app WhatsApp Contact Export. The free version exports up to 100 contacts to a file in CSV format, which you can process with Microsoft Excel or LibreOffice, for example. You can add up to 1,000 contacts for a fee.

IPhone owners are looking into the tube here. We recommend you to make screenshots at least of your most important contacts. To do this, open the WhatsApp contact, press and hold the iPhone's power button, then press the Home button. The display will light up briefly and a photo of the image will land in the photo.
