The Elf of the Lower Rhine: video awards special prize Innovation

More and more feature films are coming to the cinema with Dolby-Atmos-Sound, still too few of them on Blu-ray in the home cinema. All the more gratifying that the Potsdam production company Powerplay seized the opportunity, and equipped the brand new footballdoku “The Elf from the Niederrhein – on, on on to the Champions League” with Dolby Atmos

Video award for Borussia

The emotional film, implemented by former sport reporter René Hiepen, tells the success story of Borussia Mönchengladbach in the era of coach Lucien Favre. The team took over the team four years ago at Bundesligaplatz 18 and led it directly into the royal class in 2017.

On the 19th of August, the world's first football film in Dolby Atmos in Gladbach's Atmos cinema "Haus Zoar" celebrated its solemn premiere in the presence of the entire team and club management.

From the point of view of the video -reaction, all participants involved with this project have an important pioneering achievement for the distribution of Dolby Atmos and object-based 3D sound in general. Chief editor Andreas Stumptner therefore handed over a "Special Prize for Innovation 2017" to both Powerplay producer Ralf Grengel and René Hiepen - as well as, of course, to the Borussia itself. As usual, Markus Aretz, the Gladbach media expert, took the video award in the form of a trophy, so to speak The first cup of the season for the new foals.

Such an award is granted by video only in exceptional cases and exclusively for special occasions. The joy of the winners of the technology prize was all the greater. "I am very proud," said Ralf Grengel, who, as a committed Borussia supporter, fulfilled a personal dream with the documentation. All the project promoters present at the premiere, including Dolby itself, as well as the videovertion of the title, EuroVideo and the production company FMG, who were already responsible for the Atmos project "Ambra" in cooperation with AV receiver manufacturer Onkyo, were particularly enthusiastic

Especially Dolby's American chef Rolf Schmitz promised during the premiere that in 2017 a whole series of other Atmos titles for the home cinema would come on the market. You should talk to all studios to promote the technology. He thinks it is wonderful to support Atmos with a mass product such as football. The Blu-ray "The Elf from the Lower Rhine" can be bought from now on.
