What do you need a software like Protectorion PC? Actually, all of the important data should only be encrypted on the hard disks. This is particularly true when the device is a mobile device such as a notebook or, for example, the spreadsheet with the monthly sales is stored on a USB stick.
Although there are already existing encryption solutions in the operating systems with the help of techniques such as bit-lockers, far too few users still use encryption. In addition to the fear of not being able to access the encrypted data, it is the cumbersome way of handling many users. The Austrian company Braincell from Graz, with Protectorion PC, provides a free-of-charge version of their software, which should be simple and safe to use.

The Freeware Protectorion PC is available in two versions: once as an MSI file for installation on the desktop computer and then in the version Protection ToGo Free, a direct executable EXE file for use as a portable on the USB- Stick. It is also a good thing: the manufacturer does not require any data from the user and does not automatically automatically send him useless newsletters.
After the quick and easy installation, the user is prompted to enter a master password at the first start. After that, our test team was able to create a first safe, in which we put some data. The provider emphasizes that the data is encrypted "on-the-fly", which makes the solution suitable for use on cloud storage like Dropbox.
The encryption algorithm used is AES 256 (Advanced Encryption Standard), which is still considered to be very secure. As a further trust-building measure, the company also makes the source code of its encryption solution publicly available on the website in order to convince users of its security and the absence of any backdoor.
Especially this argument speaks in addition to the completely German-held interface strongly for this software, if users for example not only rely on the promises of the developers, as they have to do with the otherwise very good Freeware TrueCrypt necessarily.
The free version allows users to create and use two such data safes and a file for storing passwords for web pages. The number of data managed therein is not limited. Anyone who wants to use the product in the business can obtain a commercial version via the web site, which costs 19.90 euros for a system. For a larger number of computers, the manufacturer also offers different scale prices.
Protectorion PC is an encryption solution that can be used in a variety of ways. The mobile version completes the portfolio and the open source code increases user confidence.
