Price and availability


The core of the Nikon D4S is a newly developed 16 megapixel CMOS sensor in the small picture format as well as the new EXPEED 4 image processor. These two allow to increase the sensitivity of the DSLR from the standard ISO 100-25.600 to ISO 50-409.600 Expand - a record for the current moment. The sensitivity can be controlled manually or automatically, with the possibility of confinement.


Specifications


The performance of the AF system has been optimized for the Nikon D4S especially in the field of motive detection and tracking. The phase AF operates with 51 measurement fields, 15 of which cross sensors. The night vision abilities are also noticeable in the AF system: 11 measurement fields have a light sensitivity of up to f8. In addition to the typical AF-S or AF-C modes, the Nikon D4S incorporates a new function for field-group control. This allows 5 AF fields to be grouped into one group. As long as one of these fields captures the motif, it remains in the foreground. In LiveView mode, the camera focuses with contrast AF.

The Nikon D4S has been upgraded to 11 frames per second. The new Nikon D4S offers an additional RAW in the "S" as small format, especially for the fast serial image speed or fast data transmission via LAN or WLAN (via optional adapter). It is only half the size of uncompressed NEF photos.


The optical viewfinder of the Nikon D4S offers a standard 100% picture field. Image control is performed on a fixed 3.2-inch monitor with 307,000 RGB pixels. The color representation of the monitor can be adjusted using a reference image. It is stored on XQD or CF memory cards.


The housing of the Nikon D4S is made of magnesium alloy and is sealed against dust and splash water. Both the dimensions and the placement of the controls are very similar to those of the D4. The new Nikon also offers additional buttons for taking pictures in portrait format.

The Nikon D4S brings but a new stronger battery EN-EL18a with. This is to create more than 3,000 single or nearly 6,000 serial image releases.


The new Nikon D4S is scheduled to come on the market in March 2017 at the price of 6.150 Euro (body only).
