Mobile work is not necessary for many workstations, and therefore a desktop PC is still the best choice. However, a business PC does not necessarily have to be the usual big box under the desk: Dell brings with the OptiPlex 3020 Micro a full-bodied Burner computer in a 1.2-liter housing. This makes the Dell barely larger than some thin clients.

With optional brackets, the PC can also be installed behind a monitor or under the tabletop. Our 480-euro test device uses as processor a Intel Core i3-4150T with two cores and three GHz clock frequency. It is a desktop CPU, but with a power consumption of 35 watts TDP.
Conclusion
The CPU can access four GB of RAM in the form of a SODIMM bar. In the case of a memory upgrade, the module must be replaced. As a mass storage is a 2.5-inch HDD with 500 GB capacity installed. The interface is equipped with a total of six USB ports, two of which are for USB 3.0, Gigabit LAN and wireless LAN. Monitors can be connected via DisplayPort and VGA, while the graphics integrated in the processor provide for the graphics.
With 2738 points in the PCMark 7, the Micro-PC delivers more than enough power for office applications. The actively cooled computer usually remains pleasantly quiet, even disk accesses are heard. Under load, however, the small fan in the case is loud.
Despite its compact design, the Dell OptiPlex 3020 Micro is a full-featured office PC with good performance and very low power consumption. It will be quite loud only at full load.
