Colorfoto.de 48 telephoto lenses from Canon, Nikon, Olympus, Pentax, Sony, Sigma, Tamron and Zeiss

The second part of our lens test series is about telephoto lenses that have been tested on the following cameras:

Canon EOS 450D The Canon EOS 450D with 12 megapixels is used as a test camera.

Nikon D300 Our test camera from Nikon offers a similar sensor geometry as the Canon with 12 megapixels on a CMOS in the APS-C format

Olympus E-3 The top model from Olympus comes on 10 megapixels. Due to the slightly smaller sensor area, the requirements for the optics are nevertheless very high.

Pentax K20D From Pentax the top model with 14 megapixels to the lens test. The results also apply to the nearly identical Samsung GX20. Both telephones belong to the new generation of ultrasonic motors.

Sony Alpha 350 At Sony, we have also selected the camera with the A350 with the highest resolution. This facilitates the transmission of the recommendations on the other models. Apart from Zeiss, the three Sony telephones operate with ultrasonic motors. Ultrasonic motors are quiet and fast, but in the past they were a specialty of Canon and Nikon, until Sigma offered this solution. Meanwhile, Tamron, Pentax, Sony and Olympus are also building a corresponding range especially in the telephoto range.
