Gira technology is therefore an experience

A unique restaurant is located at the foot of the 368-meter-high Berlin TV tower: the MIO is a mix of sophisticated interiors and sophisticated gastronomy, fascinating technology and illumination. Visitors are particularly interested in the interactive touch-tables, ie dining tables with integrated touch-screen.

Order by touchscreen

Clever solutions have been implemented by Christoph Schroeter, the system integrator, but especially for individual lighting scenes, for ventilation, music, entertainment electronics and security. Thanks to the integration into a KNX / EIB system, almost everything runs automatically in the MIO or can be conveniently operated via the iPad via a touchpanel from Gira on the wall. The owners, the brothers Aslan, got themselves to the establishment of this gourmet temple Support by architect and designer Pakalolo Philipp Jahn. It combines futuristic shapes with high-quality decorative elements and targeted style breaks. Firstly, the ceiling installation consists of 620,000 Swarovski crystals. With these as well as tens of LED light strips, the rooms can be immersed in completely individual color schemes. The almost 400 m² restaurant is divided into different levels, sofas and separeas. In the evening the MIO awakens for its visitors to the bar, club, lounge and event location. About 450 m² of additional catering space have been created in front of the restaurant.

Charming high-tech hotel

High-tech is waiting for visitors in the VIP Lounge: large touch screens are included in the tables. Here you can order food and drinks, here you can play, chat with the guests at the Nachbartisch or surf the Internet. At parties, photographers get their pictures online immediately, and they can be seen by guests directly at the table.

The complex building technology runs in the background. It controls the lighting with its color scenes, ensures optimal air conditioning of the rooms, high air quality, for safety and the appropriate background music. "We have all the technical components in the MIO networked via a KNX / EIB system," explains Christoph Schroeter. The "brain" of this electronic nervous system is the Gira HomeServer: all information is collected and evaluated To the devices. In the evening, when the restaurant turns into a hip club, the room air quality is an important topic: sensors continuously measure the carbon dioxide content of the air. If this exceeds a defined limit value, the window or the air conditioning system will start automatically depending on the outside temperature. The room temperature is also controlled by the Gira HomeServer. A multi-room system from dbx ZonePRO, which is connected to the KNX / EIB system, provides music. The MIO is divided into six zones which can be supplied with sound independently of each other - but from a central point.

The intelligent building technology is controlled centrally via a large touch display on the bar, the Gira Control 19 Client. Here, employees can activate pre-programmed scenes, for example for breakfast, lunch time and the evening with appropriate lighting and music, but also individual color scenes are selected here. Heating, ventilation and music can also be controlled manually on the Gira Control 19 Client, and the windows can be opened or closed. The Aslan brothers can call up further functions of building technology via their iPad, such as the consumption data, and re-program individual presets >

In contrast to the Berlin MIO comparatively unimpressive is another piece of jewelry on the lakeside promenade in Meersburg on Lake Constance: the design hotel Claudia opened its doors after a comprehensive renovation in 2011. It presents itself to its guests as a symbiosis of elegant interior architecture, the charm of a listed half-timbered house and the most modern building technology.

The owner Silvano Comiotto let the original half-timbered part be exposed and included in the redesign, raw masonry is visible here and there, protected behind large glass surfaces. A very individual highlight are the Swatch collector's pieces of the hotel owner, which are stylishly staged in the rooms and the hotel Give a personal touch. Already at the entrance the guest is greeted with a colored light play in the curved wall interrupted with light gaps.

Five luxury mini-suites are spread over two floors, three of which offer a view of Lake Constance. Everywhere, different moods can be conjured with indirect colored LED lighting. The bathroom is also very well-designed: only a large glass wall separates the shower and WC from the living room.

At the push of a button, the transparent surfaces are transformed into opaque milk glass - for the desired intimate sphere in the bathroom. White milk glass floors and white corian washstands complete the design. The hotel Claudia is also technically a flagship project: in addition to a flat screen TV in each room can be controlled via a wall-mounted iPad blinds, LED and light scenes, room temperature and music.

Silvano Comiotto has deliberately opted for a KNX / EIB system, which links all components together. The "brain" behind it is once again the Gira HomeServer, installed and programmed by the system integrator Daniel Wehrle from Allensbach. In addition to the iPad, Gira tactile sensors are installed in the Gira switch design E2. In this way, the guests can call up pre-defined light scenes in their rooms as well as press the blinds via a push button. A Sonos station in each room lets you enjoy music, and even the most personal favorite music thanks to an iPhone charging and docking station.
