Sony HDR-TD20VE in the test

At first we noticed that the successor had shrunk by almost a third. Despite the smaller size, the same technology is used as in the HDR-TD10. Two lenses, one for the left and one for the right eye, deliver the successful 3D image – in cooperation with the two Exmor R-CMOS image sensors and the two BIONZ image processors. This is the only way to record the different image signals for the 3D effect in best full-HD quality (1,920 x 1,080 pixels) and process them further.

Buying advice: Camcorders at test

The Sony camcorder is still the only consumer 3D camcorder that allows full zooming in 3D mode. The factor is 12x zoom, in 2D mode even 17x. The automatic depth adjustment helps to achieve the three-dimensional impression with 3D images - now also in the close range. Already from 30 centimeters recording distance the 3D camcorder shows its strengths.

The touch screen monitor is generously equipped with 8.8 centimeters diagonal - turnable and foldable directly on the camcorder. The screen allows you to assess the three-dimensional videos directly while you are shooting and without 3D glasses. The 3D effect can be seen and provides one or the other aha experience.

The camcorder is well in the hand and can be operated with ease. The built-in automatic ensures that you can shoot at any time. Even in low light, the camcorder captures the motifs. And once the ambient light is not enough, there is a built-in LED lamp.
