Asus Zenbook UX305 review - Ultrabook

With the Asus Zenbook UX305 we have an ultrabook in the test that is one of the flattest and certainly quietest on the market. The 13.3-inch device is only 1.2 inches thick. As the Intel Core-M processor delivers its waste heat without fan over the stable aluminum housing of the Zenbook and as a mass storage an SSD serves, the UX305 works silently. The Intel Core M-5Y10 works with a base clock of only 800 MHz, but can reach up to two GHz in turbo mode.

Therefore, the Asus Zenbook UX305 provides a system performance for an Ultrabook: We measure 4.325 points in the PCMark 7. To this value contributes also the fast SanDisk SSD their part. Graphically challenging 3D games are not the metier of an ultrabook with process graphics. The battery life is 6.5 hours very tidy but not exceptionally long.

The resolution of the matt 13.3-inch IPS panel is unbelievable for an ultrabook at a cost of 1,000 euros: it represents 3,200 x 1,800 pixels and is thus extremely sharp. The colors look a little flat. The thin, brushed aluminum display cover keeps printing good.

Asus Zenbook UX305: Conclusion

The Asus Zenbook UX305's crisp keyboard provides a good writing feel despite short key strokes, but is not illuminated. The large touchpad recognizes gestures and is precise, only the integrated mosaics are a bit noisy. A fast WLAN-AC module from Intel is installed for the wireless communication. It comes with a GBit LAN adapter that connects to one of the three USB 3.0 ports.

Asus Zenbook UX305: Specifications

For a price of 1,000 euros, the high-quality Asus Zenbook UX305 with its UHD display and the large SSD is a very good purchase. Also performance and battery life are absolutely appropriate for such a flat ultrabook.
