Until Windows 10 is officially released for installation on July 29, 2017, Microsoft will provide various pre-release versions of its operating system free of charge on its Windows Insider site. Each user is allowed to download and install these versions. In addition to the standard version for consumers, the company from Redmond also offers pro and enterprise variants, which you will find there as well. More recent versions for 32- and 64-bit are available through Microsoft’s official community pages or via an Internet search. With the search words Windows 10, ESD, Build and Download you would have to find.
ISO image from the ESD file for installation
ESD files are not ISO images, but more compressed ISO files. These are often used for updates and upgrades. For upgrades as for Windows 10, an installation DVD can be built from the ESD files, with which new installations can also be carried out. The example for Windows 10 Pro and Enterprise shows how to get an ISO file from the ESD file. This will then burn to DVD or install on a USB drive.

Windows 10 to a USB stick and start from there
Download the appropriate package with the ESD file. Online you can download the ESD Decrypter tool free of charge. Unzip the program to a directory and copy the ESD file with the Windows-10 installation to it. Start the ESD Decrypter as an administrator. To do this, right-click the program icon in Windows Explorer. From the context menu, select Run as administrator.

After the start you will see the main menu. Press the [1] key. The program starts with the conversion of the ESD file. It generates a safety scan and analyzes the data. Then the tool unzips the data and writes it into an ISO file. This has the same name as the original, only with the file extension ISO.
Burn out of the ISO a DVD. To do this, right-click on the ISO file in Windows 7 and 8.x. Select Burn disk image. Locate the drive in the following window, and then click Burn. Use the new disk to install Windows 10 Pro or Enterprise on a PC.
Alternatively, you can use a virtual machine such as Virtual Box or VMware Player. When you use a virtual machine, you bind the ISO image as a drive during installation and start the import from there.
When installing on a computer without a DVD drive, use a USB stick or an external hard disk. The Rufus program helps you. For this you need a stick with at least 4 GB of storage capacity. Unzip Rufus on your computer and start the program
Select the USB stick in the main window under drive. For the partition scheme and the target system's T yp, set the option to MBR partitioning scheme for BIOS and UEFI computers. NTFS is used as a file system. In the Formatting Settings box, select the Create bootable drive option. Right-click the icon with the DVD drive, and select the Windows 10 ISO. Start the transmission of the installation data to the USB stick. Note that the data on the stick or the external hard disk will be deleted!
Use the USB stick to start the installation on the target computer. Plug it into the computer and restart it. In the BIOS menu, select the USB stick as the boot media. After the boot process, install Windows from the stick.
If there is no PC for testing the new Windows version, or if you do not want to use a virtual environment, there is an alternative. You can also transfer the Windows 10 ISO to a USB stick or an external hard drive. From the portable media, start the operating system.
The program Rufus has an option to unpack and install Windows to a USB memory. In the Format Settings box, select Windows To Go. Rufus takes very long to transfer the data to the USB medium. That's why the WinToUSB program is the better choice.

The USB stick must have at least 20 GB of storage space for the installation of a portable Windows system. All data on the stick or the external hard disk will be deleted during the process. When you start your computer, open the BIOS or UEFI settings. There you define the USB memory as a boot medium. The first time you start the operating system, you make the settings for language, location, and apps. You also create a user.
To start Windows 10 Pro and Enterprise, you do not need a serial number - or if so, you can find the code at Microsoft. The actual build of the insider preview can be seen in the lower right corner of the screen. Microsoft constantly provides improvements and new versions over the Internet. This marks the new strategy of the company. There will be no major versions in the future according to the manufacturer. You want to provide the user constantly new functions. Insiders see a clear path towards Abomodell for the operating system, as is already known in Office 365.
Open the update settings via the Start menu - depending on the language version - with settings or settings. In the overview, select Update and Restore. Click Advanced Options and scroll down all the way down. In the Select Preview build type, select the Fast option. Once a new build for Windows 10 is available, the system automatically installs it in the background.
