Pokémon GO: Our tips tell you how to find and correctly rate the IV values of your Pokémon.
What are IVs in Pokémon GO?
In Pokémon GO, each monster has different values - such as Combat Points (WP), Force Points (KP), Weight and Attacks. What many players do not know at the outset: In secret, there are other essential stats that influence the strength of a Pokémon - and should be taken into account when deciding on development, power-up or sending. The speech is called Individual Values ("IVs"), and sometimes "Determinant Values" ("DVs").

Pokémon GO: Calculate IV values
The IV values are secret basic values of a Pokémon, which determine its strength independently of the current WP value. IVs have already existed in older Pokémon games and they are often compared to genes of living creatures. Because like genes the IVs are not openly visible - and not changeable. The IVs can vary between 0 and 15 points depending on Pokémon. A Pokémon with the values 15/15/15 would therefore be a perfect specimen of its kind, a Pokémon with the IVs 0/0/0 despite perhaps high WP value quickly a case for recycling Professor Willow Br>
With the Pokémon GO Update 0.35.0 / 1.5.0, the game was supplemented by a rating function based on the IV values. It allows you to have the Pokémon analyzed directly by the team leaders Candela, Blanche or Spark. As a result, however, they give only rough approximations in text form and no concrete IV values.
In order to use the new evaluation function, open a Pokémon in the detailed view and select the option "Rating" in the lower right corner. Then the team leader appears and tells the player about the strength of the Pokémon.
However, since this information seems to be rather imprecise and unhelpful, it is still worthwhile to calculate the IV values in case of doubt.
How can you determine the IV values of a Pokémon, if they are not open? This is made possible by some calculations with the values visible in the Pokémon detail view. Because some hard-working Pokémon fans have found the formula with which the game sets the WP values and KP values. With a little mathematics, the unknown IV values can be calculated - at least in part.

In this way, the endurance IV value can be determined concretely, whereas the attack and defense IVs can only be calculated as a combined value. For a monster, therefore, there may be several different IV combinations that lead to the current WP value. Apart from a few exceptions (about 0/0/0 or 15/15/15), the exact attack and defense IVs can only be found using cheat tools that violate the Niantic usage conditions

Do not worry though - even if you prefer to play more than you can calculate, you can find the IV values of your Pokémon. In the meantime, there are many IV computers as web pages, tools and apps that you can use to calculate.
IV Calculator Apps for Android and iOS
On the PC or mobile in the browser we recommend as a Caluclator tool such as the IV Rater of Silph Road. Here, the player is asked in three steps for the data important for the calculation: Trainer level as well as WP and KP points of the Pokémon. The IV rater then evaluates the data and provides an intuitive analysis of the IV values in percent and text.

Why are IV values so important?
Poké Assistant's IV Calculator is a shame. Here the approximate calculated IV values can be further refined. For this, however, one or more power ups must be carried out. The additional values allow you to calculate the exact attack and defense IVs.
If you want to track the IV values of your Pokémon, you can also access numerous apps. For Android, there is the free app GoIV a very successful IV Calculator. The app lays down as an overlay on Pokémon GO, reads the Pokémon values via OCR and calculates them with a tactile print. As a screenshot is taken and the API is not tapped, no Niantic usage conditions will be violated.
Update to GoIV: In the meantime, the app has been removed from the Play Store by Google. This is due to violations of developer policies in the Play Store (not Niantic Terms of Use). The developers have filed an appeal and offer the last APK version temporarily via reddit. An alternative for Android is the App IV Calculator PokeGO Master, which is available on the Play Store.

Also for the iPhone, there is a handy app for IV calculation with Offline IV Calc. However, the analysis is not performed in the app, but on a screenshot.
On the contrary to the other stats of the Pokémon like WP and KP, the IV values are invariable - just like Gene. Before you invest a lot of bonuses and star dust in a Pokémon at higher levels with Power Ups, you should ensure that it has good IV values. Because the maximum WP value that a Pokémon can reach depends directly on them.

In addition to the IV values, the attack and special attacks ("moveset") of the Pokémon are not underestimated. They can be altered at a later stage - except by development and only by chance. The strongest Pokémon needs not only the perfect IV-values but also the ideal attack set.
