Freecom ToughDrive SSD test: SSDs guarantee a fast data transfer. Most users are convinced of this. Freecom uses a 256 GByte SSD from Toshiba, with a built-in controller that converts data from SATA3 to USB3.0 protocol and vice versa. In our test, the mobile hard drive achieves data transfer rates of over 280 MByte per second when writing and reading, which is well over 100 MB faster than the fastest external disks with rotating disks.
However, the SSD does not come at present to current SSDs, which are installed internally and directly to an onboard SATA3 controller are connected. The write access time is excellent with 0.02 milliseconds. The case makes a very robust impression and is suitable for hard outdoor use. However, the external hard disk is shock-proof, mainly because SSDs do not have any rotating components and are generally shock-resistant. Software and instructions are on the disk.
