FreeCommander - free download

The Windows Explorer leaves much to be desired with the functionality and convenience of the file manager. For example, opening a second Explorer window is not a revelation for frequently used file collections. Better is a special file manager such as FreeCommander, which can be installed parallel to the Windows Explorer and is waiting with many additional features. With a horizontal or vertical two-window view, hotkeys and some additional commands and functions, archive files in the FreeCommander can be quickly moved to and from the touch screen or mouse, viewed and packed. The Fileimanager user interface can be adapted in a variety of ways, so you can open two file windows in parallel to work with both directories. Tabs allow FreeCommander to quickly change folders.

Optionally activate a tree view in the FreeCommander file manager in each window. Frequently used functions are available in the FreeCommander. A comparison function determines the differences between two open directories with one mouse click. With a pushbutton, you can find the size of all archive files stored in a folder including subdirectories. The file manga search function of FreeCommander searches for file names, file contents and duplicates according to various criteria. The function for renaming files is also very useful. There is in FreeCommander an internal viewer of files in different formats, such as texts and pictures. FreeCommander supports the archive formats ZIP, CAB and RAR, and the archives can only be read and unpacked. FreeCommander is also well-versed with nested archive files. Thanks to the built-in FTP client, you can connect to remote FTP servers directly in FreeCommander to a special client and transfer files over the Internet between PCs.

Other tools include fast access to the Start / Favorites menu, desktop and desktop elements, the built-in DOS input line, and a module for creating and verifying MD5 cross-sums. In addition, FreeCommander displays properties and attributes of files and allows you to quickly switch to previously defined folders and launch applications via a favorite list. You can easily copy FreeCommander's installation folder to a USB drive, CD / DVD, or on the memory card of a digital camera and take it with you anywhere.
