4K Stream: Sony brings streaming box FMP-X5A for 4K TVs

UHD picture points show already some LCD TVs. But how do they receive the precious food? One possibility is to play on the Internet. First VoD providers such as Netflix already have 4K films on offer. These transmit the signals in the data decompression method H.265, also called High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC), specifically designed for UHD.

The new Sony media player FMP-X5A understands this coding and plays the corresponding decrypted movies selected Sony TVs via HDMI, which can not itself via an Internet app 4K contents receive. The models KD-84X9005 (test), KD-65X9005A (test) and KD-55X9005A can be addressed.

The Web-4K receiver FMP-X5A is expected to hit the market in August and cost 400 euros.
