To play C64 games in the emulator

Learn how to play C64 classics on your PC … which program you need


Step 1: Install "C64 Forever"


For C64 fans, there are easy-to-use emulator packages for Windows. They can be easily installed and then the programs are available at the touch of a button.


Step 2: Select the type of installation


We'll show you in five simple steps how you can use the program "C64 Forever" to play old C64 games on your PC.


Step 3: Open "C64 Forever"


You can download the "C64 Forever" on the manufacturer's page. Start the installation and follow the instructions in the wizard. To start, confirm the program's license text.


Step 4: Select a game


Decide between automatic and custom installation. In the latter, you can specify the location where you want to install the program. Install all features, then you can try all the possibilities of the program.


Start the emulator and skip the start screen of "C64 Forever". Close the tip of the day. The Options dialog will open the first time the program is started. Use the Preferences and close the
dialog

All games, graphics videos and system tools are started from the program window tabs. Use the extensive lists to make your selection. If you select an entry, you will see a smaller thumbnail.


Start the game by clicking on the big blue button for "Play". The program opens a new window in which the C64 emulator runs. After the system boots, the selected game is loaded. Do not be surprised if a colored flicker appears first. This is normal when reading data on the C64 system. You will then see an intro graphic. Just skip these and the following screens with the spacebar.


The game is controlled via the keyboard of the PC. The right "Ctrl" key is used as the fire key. Use the arrow keys to move to the right or left. To jump a character, press "Arrow Up". Similarly, this works with "arrow down": The game figure ducks or runs down. For some games, such as Arkanoid, keys A and D are used to move right and left.


The symbol buttons are located at the bottom of the emulator window. In addition, use the features such as pause or create a screenshot of the current screen. On the right, you change the magnification level for the screen. In the basic setting of C64 Forever the emulator graphics are used in double screen size. Of course, a full-screen mode is also available.


Use "Share" to send a message about the emulator and the current software to your Facebook, Twitter, Windows Messenger or Skype account.
