The main technical parameters of the Canon EOS 700D are inherited from the Canon EOS 650D (47.5 points in the test). It remains with the 18-megapixel hybrid CMOS sensor and the DIGIC-5 image processor. For focus, the EOS 700D still offers a dual AF system: a live AF with 9 cross sensors when taking pictures through the viewfinder, and a hybrid AF in the live view with the possibility to choose between more precise contrast or faster phase AF switch. For the phase AF, special pixels for phase detection are attached to the sensor of the camera.
Price and availability
The ISO range of the new Canon DSLR extends as a standard from ISO 100 to ISO 12.800 and can be extended to ISO 25.600 if necessary. Series shoots the EOS 700D with a maximum of 5 images per second. As a result, 22 JPEGs or 6 RAWs can be recorded.
Specifications
The Canon EOS 700D continues to control the image on the 3-inch rotatable and swivel monitor with 346,666 RGB pixels and a convenient touch function. The housing of the EOS 700D is also similar to the EOS 650D. It is roughly the same size and heavy and has an almost identical key layout. However, according to Canon, the new coating should be more handy and more valuable.
Overview: All Canon EOS DSLRs in the test
Newly designed with the EOS 700D is the mode dial, which can now be rotated by 360 degrees around its own axis. Compared to its predecessor, however, it offers 3 presets less. Otherwise the operating concept remains similar. The most commonly used parameters such as time, aperture, exposure compensation, ISO or AF fields allow the user to adjust the viewfinder directly using the buttons, depending on the program mode. With other direct keys, Q-Menu key or the corresponding icon in the live view, most settings can be changed relatively quickly, but only with two hands.
The equipment of the Canon EOS 700D remains essentially the same as with the EOS 650D. The camera has an integrated flash with LZ13 and can simultaneously control external flashes via TTL. Full HD videos take the EOS 700D with 1920x1280 pixels and 30 full-size images in the second in MOV format. GPS connection, HDMI, USB 2.0 and Eye-Fi support complete the equipment. Also new is the possibility to display creative filters before recording in live view mode.
As of April 2013, the 700D is available for a price of 850 euros together with the new kit lens EF-S 3.5-5.6 / 18-55 mm IS STM - slightly more expensive than the newly introduced Canon EOS 100D Code>
