Windows Update: July patch-day stuffs hacking team gaps

The Microsoft Patch Day in July brings up to 14 Windows updates, which you should install as soon as possible. Four of the updates classify Microsoft as critical, they also affect Internet Explorer, in addition to the Windows system itself. The other – as importantly classified – updates come next to Windows also for Office. Windows Update should report itself automatically. If not, you can run the Microsoft service from the Control Panel, search for downloads, and install them.

The Internet Explorer under Windows 7 and Windows 8 gets a particularly important update. The patch of the July package from Microsoft closes a gap, which was unknown until the Leak at the spy software manufacturer hacking team. Users were able to infiltrate and execute malicious code through the security patch. A security researcher came to the void after he checked out e-mails from hacking team.

An only as importantly rated patch for a gap in Windows is also in connection with the hacking team. Google's security researcher from Project Zero and the security chief of First Look Media drew Microsoft's attention to the Leak discovery. The highest level was not chosen as the gap could only cause damage in connection with another leak in the Adobe Flash Player.
