Toshiba X300 in the test

Toshiba X300 high performance hard drive

Very good and very cheap

With the X300, Toshiba is aimed at the ambitious user who wants to upgrade his PC with ample memory, for example, to accommodate videos, photos or other memory-consuming data. The X300 is not intended for use in a NAS, ie in continuous operation.

Conclusion

The Toshiba X300 achieves a very good average read rate of 167.3 Mbyte / s and a write rate of 164.1 Mbyte / s over the entire disk. Even in the interior of the platters it is still well over 100 Mbyte / s when reading and writing - very good. The temperature development that we measure on the outside of the housing is comparatively low and rarely exceeds the ambient temperature by 11 ° C. The measured access time of 11.9ms is also very good.

With a calculated price of 200 euros we come in the 6-TB version at a price of 3.4 cents per gigabyte and this makes this HDD particularly interesting for bargain hunters. For 8 or 10 terabytes of HDDs, the gigabyte price is beyond 6 cent. Please pay attention to your X300 for a bargain hunt, which is not offered as "bulk" goods, but in a neat carton, otherwise you could get problems with the manufacturing guarantee.

The Toshiba X300 is a very good desktop hard drive with an excellent price-performance ratio and very good transfer rates. If you want to upgrade your PC, the X300 is all right.
