With the Equalizer setting Heavy brings powerful bass into the living room. The setting Clear is responsible for smoother tones. So classical music can also sound fine and natural.
For the connection to the TV there is only a mini-jack input. Apple portables can send their music via AirPlay, for Android devices, there is DLNA. All this works wirelessly via WLAN. If you do not need the last bit of quality, you can also use Bluetooth.
For the music selection there is the free app Panasonic Music Stream, which however does not have basic control functions such as the source selection or the equalizer setting
What makes the SC-NE5 unique is the fact that it is second-hand. The main unit includes a two-way loudspeaker system with a bass reflex tube as well as a 40-watt amplifier and an FM radio. The control panel in the thin plastic housing can be placed in the TV rack under the TV or on the wall.
The subunit has a docking station for the iPhone 5, a USB port to which USB sticks or Apple devices can be connected, and a CD drive. The docking station can be placed comfortably within the reach of the couch.
