Tips on the Olympus OM-E E-M5
1. Enable ART exposure series in the menu
The Olympus OM-D E-M5 (54 points in the test) allows various types of exposures: Depending on the selected exposure program, the aperture or time or aperture and aperture are varied simultaneously with the AE BKT, up to 7 incremental exposures between 0.3 and 1 EV.
Select ART filter from the selection menu
On FL BKT, on the other hand, only the strobe light is dosed differently (3 exposures in steps of 0.3 to 1 EV). With ISO BKT shutter speed and aperture remain constant, instead the ISO setting is varied (3 exposures in increments of 0.3 to 1 EV). A special feature of the OM-D is the ART Bracketing, which can be reached through the ART setting on the program dial.
Customize individual ART filters
In the ART menu you can select one of 11 effect filters: Pop Art, Soft Focus, Pale Colors, Soft Light, Monochrome Movie, Hole Camera, Diorama, Cross Development, Tender Sepia, Dramatic Effect or Painting. The last option in the series is the ART exposure series (ART BRK).
The flash
Use the right arrow key to enter a selection menu, which determines which filters should actually be used for the ART bracketing. In addition to the type filters, there are also various picture styles, such as portrait, Vivid or Natural.
ART filters can be individually adjusted in the shooting menu before use - individually or in one exposure series. Depending on the filter, different intensities or further options such as, for example, Frame effects ready.
The OM-D does not have a built-in flash unit, but has the FL-LM2 plug-in flashing included. As usual, it is pushed into the flash shoe, coupled to the accessory port of the camera by means of an additional plug, and then locked in place, for unlocking, a button must be pressed. The flash unit is activated by flipping.
Other special features: The shortest flash synchronization time can be set between 1/60 and 1/250. In addition, you can enter a lower time limit for the long-term synchronization in program and time automation. The flash can be corrected independently of the main exposure (if desired, but also combined), and flash exposures are possible.
