Whatsapp as a download: The desktop app is available for Windows and Mac.

With the download of the Whatsapp desktop app you can use the popular Messenger comfortably on your PC. The software offers the possibility to send and receive messages, pictures and attachments, or to start new group chats. Calls are not currently available on the Whatsapp desktop app.


Whatsapp Web as an alternative


As a system requirement, the Whatsapp desktop app requires a PC with Windows 8, Windows 8.1 or Windows 10 - each in the 64-bit version. The 32-bit versions as well as Windows 7 are currently not supported. Whatsapp needs to be installed and active on the smartphone.


In addition to the Windows program, the Whatsapp desktop app is also available for Mac. Mac OS X10.9 or later must be installed as a system requirement. ARM CPUs and Linux systems are currently not supported.

For all those who can not meet the system requirements for the desktop app, there is an alternative to the Whatsapp Web browser app. This requires only a current browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Opera or Safari) and is therefore also usable under Linux and on 32-bit systems.
