Configure the network connection in Windows 7

If the printers do not have an optimized driver that allows a direct connection to the network, you can also create the appropriate connection manually. Even when connecting a USB printer to a Fritz! Box, you have to manually create a network port on the PCs, which connects the printer driver to the printer at the Fritz! Box.

1. Install the printer driver

To do this, install the printer driver on the computer and select any port port. This does not even need to work.

2. Set print properties

After the installation, call up the "Print Properties" from the context menu and go to the "Ports" tab. Click "Add" and select "Standard TCP / IP Port."

3. Enter the IP address

An assistant will start to assist you with the connection. For the print name or IP address, enter the IP address configured in the printer. You can see this directly at the printer in the "Network settings". Leave the "Portname" field blank.

4. Connect the printer

The wizard then attempts to detect and bind the printer. If the wizard does not find a connection name, use the "Generic Network Card" setting. If this does not work, you have the option to test other settings later.

On the Ports tab, make sure that the new port is added and selected. The printer should now be able to be accessed and functioning over the network.

5. Last check
