AVM advises to Fritzbox Update: hackers use old security gap

The Fritz box security gap of February concerned the users who had activated the remote access via port 443 and had a telephone function. This allowed fraudulent hackers to attack without notice and telephone fraud by means of automated remote calls and telephone “value-added services” – which the users then only noticed on their telephone bill. AVM had closed this gap with a security update already in February. A detailed update guide is provided by the manufacturer.

Now AVM feels compelled to warn again this old gap. Obviously, there are still enough systems with the outdated firmware to make fraudulent the target target worthwhile.
