Denon AVR-3312 review: The Praktiker

The new Denon AVR-3312 has a lot of improvements on the software side. AirPlay support is now integrated as standard, and a new “setup wizard” helps the owner efficiently with the basic settings and connections.

Denon AVR-3312: Affinity to Apple

For this purpose, the developers of Denon have graphically drawn all registers in the on-screen display (OSD) with Advanced GUI. Also, the clear remote control with large, prioritized buttons contributes to the user-friendly operation of the AVR-3312.

The iPhone and the iPod can not only be connected without a dock via USB cable, they can also be operated intuitively via the remote control of the Denon receiver. And the Apple devices instantly send their menus to the OSD on the screen.

Speaking of the screen, the AVR-3312 offers a 1080p-24-scaler for a kinogerechte picture rate and dominates HD-processing compared to its small brothers, which have to deal with normal 1080p scaling. The 12-bit video processor from Analog Devices succeeds in motion-adaptive de-interlacing. And the built-in video equalizer allows for extensive image corrections.

Five AV receivers from Denon, Onkyo and Co. in the test

Also in terms of audio, the Denon does not need to hide: it maintains the typical musicality of its predecessors and works independently of the stereo or multi-channel operation balanced and sparkling. Applause for live recordings had a very natural effect, but in complex passages CD could sometimes blur the contours.

In addition, the spatial image and the stability of the sound image at the surround did not leave anything to be desired - no matter whether a DVD or Blu-ray was the source of the program.

The AVR-3312 is the only one of its kind in the world, and it's the only thing that makes the AVR-3312 the best choice for you.

Denon and the AVR-3312 have achieved a sound balance between sound, user-friendliness and video functionality at a price of 1.100 euros.
