To automatically update the device drivers, S.A.D. PC Updater checks the driver installed on a Windows PC (XP to 8.1), compares its versions with the entries of its database, and creates a list of update suggestions on this basis. According to S.A.D. PC Updater loads the drivers directly from the homepage of the respective manufacturers and thus wants to prevent virus-infected or modified updates to the PC. In the test, PC Updater performs its task reliably.
On several test PCs, which are up-to-date according to the Windows update, the software finds numerous new drivers. The only exception is a PCIe graphics card from Nvidia, which does not list PC Updaters despite older drivers. For this purpose, the tool recognizes which devices are currently connected to the PC so that phantom updates can be excluded for hardware that is no longer used. Before any installation, PC Updater will back up the current drivers so that you can restore the most recent configuration when problems occur.
